Classic on Easter Island

The early 20th Century was they heyday of exploring the world and archaeological adventures. There is still some great work and adventuring going on, but back in the day book after book came out chronicling those times. This book is a reprint of one of those '20s classics. Not as adventuring as some, more of a straight-forward history. It also focuses on Easter Island and little of the rest of the Pacific as the title implies. Nevertheless, Easter Island is the best preserved, most studied and still much debated of all the Pacific sites. Easter Island students will want this book in their collection. Fascinating

I love this book because it's one of the first that told of Easter Island. The language is a bit antiquated (it was published in the 1950's), but that was easy enough to wade through. However, this reprint of a long out-of-print book is a real find. the author was able to pass on his sense of Wonder to me. I'm glad to see it in print!
